The Dance/Art of Movement Program at FEBEM was carried out from December 1991 to June 1992, with children with disabilities.

Ethel Akkerman Aronis, Renata Macedo Soares, and Thais Helena Meleiro developed the project in two phases. First, there was a survey of the conditions of children with disabilities living in the various FEBEM Units. A report was developed and the Sampaio Viana Unit was selected for a six-month action.

Through body movement activities, children with disabilities or developmental delay were given opportunities to expand their movement vocabulary and express their feelings. In addition to the work with the children, body movement workshops were offered to the educational assistants.
