Brazilian Association for the Visually Impaired
LARAMARA was founded by the couple Mara and Victor Siaulys, aiming to support the educational and social inclusion of the visually impaired: the blind, poor vision, or multiple deficiencies.
Renata Macedo Soares introduced the dance project to Laramara from 1983 to 1984. It was a project integrated with the pedagogical purpose of the Association, and was built with the team along with Victor himself, the founder of the institution.
Later, from 1998 to 2000, Morungaba resumed offering dance workshops to visually impaired children and adults, promoting multisensory experiences, combining movement with the other senses. Sound stimuli were used to encourage body language, as well as the use of cloths, balls, hula-hoops, and stories.
The program was aimed toward enriching the movement repertoire of each person.
